Sarah Paulson told a story Monday about how a fellow actress offended her with a brazen gesture more than a decade back.

The star of American Horror Story and American Crime Story, 49, appearing on the Smartless podcast with hosts Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes, said the actress – who she identified as Trish Hawkins – inundated her with unsolicited advice about a role in the play Talley’s Folly she had in an Off-Broadway show in 2013.

‘I did a play called Talley’s Folly at the Roundabout, and the actress – and I’m gonna say this, and I’m not gonna ask you to cut this out, because I don’t f***ing care – this actress came to the play,’ Paulson said.

The Tampa, Florida-born star continued, ‘Her name is Trish Hawkins. Hi, Trish! Hi, Trisha! Trish Hawkins came to this play – am I gonna get sued? I don’t care, ’cause I think this is outrageous.’

Paulson’s mother Catharine Paulson, who had known Hawkins from ‘some kind of writing group’ they were in, had invited her to the play in Manhattan.

Hawkins earlier played the character Paulson was playing, Sally Talley, in 1979, the Emmy-winning actress said on the podcast.

Paulson said that Hawkins irritated her almost immediately after they first crossed paths, as she nitpicked aspects of her costume.

‘She looked at me sort of up and down and then she went, “Your dress is yellow – mine was pink,”‘ Paulson said. ‘And I thought, “What?”‘

Paulson said that Hawkins next move ‘was really outrageous’ as she sent her six pages of unsolicited direction vis a vis the play.

‘Cut to two days later, I got an email that was six pages long of notes and a communication to me about what she had done when she had done the play, what she recommended I do,’ Paulson said.

Paulson added, ‘Trish Hawkins, I have not forgotten it, and I hope to see you never.’

Paulson said that she kept the notes from Hawkins, joking of her mother, ‘I just put it back in the file of things my mother has done.’

Hawkins played the role of Sally Talley in the Lanford Wilson play both Off-Broadway in 1979, and on Broadway the following year, according to Variety.
