Romanian Police Raid Andrew Tate’s Bucharest Home Amid Allegations of Trafficking Minors

Romanian police officers raided the home of self-professed misogynist Andrew Tate Wednesday amid new allegations involving trafficking and sex with minors.

Romania’s anti-organized crime agency, DIICOT, conducted the early morning raids on several homes in Bucharest and Ilfov County and said said hearings were scheduled, the Associated Press reported.

Tate, his brother Tristan Tate, and two associates are awaiting trial on charges of rape, human trafficking, and forming a criminal gang to exploit women, as CrimeOnline reported. He has denied the charges and was released from house arrest in Bucharest a year ago, although he must have permission to leave the city.

Tate, 37, was initially arrested in 2022 and was formally indicted, along with his co-defendants, last year.

British authorities have issued arrest warrants for the former kickboxing brothers, who now stake their claim to fame as “influencers,” on charges of sexual aggression dating from 2012-2015. Earlier this year, a Romanian court granted the extradition request but only after the Romanian court cases have concluded.

A court ruled last month that there was enough evidence for the case to proceed, but a trial date has not been set.
