Remains of Missing 17-Year-Old North Carolina Girl Found; Boyfriend Said He Disposed of Body But Couldn’t Remember Where

The remains of a missing North Carolina teen were found late Tuesday afternoon in Cabarrus County.

Albemarle Police Chief Jason Bollhorst said the remains of 17-year-old Baylee Carver, who was reported missing on Friday, were found north of Highway 49 and Route 601, and an autopsy has been scheduled, WSOC reported.

“We offer our deepest condolences to the loved ones of Baylee Carver,” Bollhorst said. “As they mourn their loss, our hearts are with them during this difficult time. The Albemarle Police Department is grateful for all of the assistance and resources provided throughout the course of this search. The investigation is still ongoing.”

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Carver’s 20-year-old boyfriend, Joshua Biles, told police his girlfriend was dead and that he had disposed of her body but couldn’t remember where he put her remains. He said he drove the body away from the home in a red Honda, which was found at the home. Biles was subsequently charged with obstruction and concealing a death.

Authorities believe Biles moved Carter’s body from the home where the 911 call was placed on Friday. Investigators processed the home and the Honda and impounded the car on Monday. Earlier Tuesday afternoon, police said that they believed Carver had “obvious wounds” suggesting she was dead, but they did not say how they had made that determination.

Police said more than a dozen agencies participated in the search for Carver and covered more than 160 miles with drones, dogs, and officers’ foot power.

Biles made a first appearance in court on Monday and was ordered held on a $250,000 bond. He is due in court again next week and may be facing new charges by that time.
