A Michigan man was charged on Wednesday for his alleged role in a 2020 murder-for-hire plot that led to a woman being shot multiple times.

WDIV reported that Clifton Terry III, 31, offered Andre Sims, 25, $10,000 to kill the woman, who Sims shot three times outside a Sterling Heights apartment complex in November 2020. The woman was hospitalized with non-threatening injuries and survived.

A day before the shooting, Terry texted Sims about renting a pickup truck from Hertz and instructed Sims to meet him in Flint.

On the day of the shooting, cellphone data reportedly placed Terry and Sims in the vicinity of the victim’s home. Hours later, Sims reportedly used a different pickup truck to drive to a parking lot across the street from the victim’s front door. Sims then fired seven to eight shots at the victim as she walked to an SUV that was parked in front of her home, according to WDIV.

WDIV reported that the November 2020 shooting was captured on a security camera. Sims allegedly abandoned the vehicle used in the shooting before Terry picked him up from the apartment complex.

Federal prosecutors said Terry ultimately offered Sims $2,500 for the failed hit, WNEM reported.

Earlier this month, Sims was sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting Sandra Carter, 65, in Grand Rapids in January 2021. In an unrelated case, Terry is currently facing first-degree murder charges for his role in last summer’s slaying of Devaroe Davis, 33.

Terry is a rapper known as “Cliff Mac” who also referred to himself as the “King of Flint.” In regards to the November 2020 shooting, he is charged with conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire resulting in personal injury, murder-for-hire resulting in personal injury, and using a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
