Cops arrested a Florida man who allegedly broke into a neighbor’s home and molested a woman’s sleeping children.
David Andrew Ogden, 39, is facing several counts of lewd and lascivious behavior and one count each of burglary with assault and resisting arrest. According to a probable cause arrest affidavit, the mother of the victims was driving for Uber when a friend called her shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sept. 7 to say in-home cameras showed Ogden inside a bedroom where all three kids were sleeping. She immediately started driving home.
The videos reportedly showed Ogden touching the kids and taking photos. He allegedly rubbed the legs of one of the victims and pulled down the pants of another. He then pulled out his penis and started masturbating while sniffing one of the children’s buttocks, the affidavit said.
The victim said she knew Ogden as a personal trainer at a YMCA. He texted her around 12:45 a.m., reportedly saying:
Hey, seriously, Saturday, if you need to work. I am happy to entertain the kids. I know you’re probably sleeping. But my girls had a blast with yours. Also, little drunk watching umbrella academy. Lol. But really was great to see my girls having so much fun. They were out like a light at bedtime. Lol
According to the affidavit, Ogden entered the home through a mail slot. He knew he could unlock the door that way, per cops.
Cops went to Ogden’s home and grabbed his wrist and put him in handcuffs after he opened the door, they said. He allegedly resisted arrest. He spoke with detectives post-Miranda but his statements are not included in the arrest affidavit. His wife voluntarily turned in his phone to police. He’s currently at the Orange County Jail without bond.
Ogden is a relative of Dave Ogden, the police chief in nearby Windermere. The chief sent out the following statement to local media outlets.
I am disheartened; shocked and crushed by the recent news and arrest of a family member. As difficult as this is, I believe in the importance of allowing the legal process to unfold and in the principles of accountability and justice. I fully support the investigation and trust that the truth will come to light through due process. Out of respect for the all individuals involved and our family, I will not be commenting further. My commitment to serving the community with integrity remains unwavering during this challenging time.
