A woman allegedly walked into a Subway restaurant and shot an employee — a 15-year-old girl — in the face.
Alisa Jewel Reed, 37, is currently sitting in the Cumberland County Detention Center in North Carolina for charges including attempted first-degree murder. Cops in the Fayetteville-area town of Spring Lake did not identify the girl, but her mother is seeking help through a GoFundMe campaign in light of her daughter’s long, challenging recovery. The teenager is “permanently disabled and handicapped.”
“My daughter literally has to relearn how to do some of the simple things that we take for granted every day, such as learning how to eat and walk again,” the mother wrote. “Due to the nature of her injuries, she will have to receive a few more surgeries and therapies, including but not limited to physical and occupational therapy, as well as mental health, due to this traumatic experience.”
Spring Lake police say they responded back on March 12 at approximately 5 p.m. to the Subway restaurant on Murchison Road to find that the teenager was injured inside.
One 911 caller said that the shooter, a customer, fired into the building, according to audio obtained by Raleigh NBC affiliate WRAL.
“I am at the Subway on Murchison Road, and I just saw a customer shoot into the building and shoot our 16-year-old manager in the face,” the caller said.
Another caller said the bullet struck the girl in the eye.
“Information was provided that an altercation between employees and a customer resulted in the customer shooting the juvenile employee,” police wrote.
Fayetteville cops arrested Reed. Spring Lake police asked anyone with information about this shooting to call 910-436-0350.
