The parents of n Indiana toddler who died after she was pulled from a lake nearly a year ago now face charges connected with her death.
Three-year-old Ivy Allen, who had non-verbal autism, was reported missing on the morning of May 12, 2022, in Michigan City, launching an extensive search that eventually located the unresponsive little girl in Clare Lake, not far from her home, WNDU reported.
Search crews pulled the girl from the water and first responders began live-saving measures, even as she was taken to a hospital. Medical staff there worked for several hours but were unable to save her life.
Michigan City police continued to investigate the incident and this week announced that her parents, 35-year-old Andrew Allen and 33-year-old Breanne Smith had been charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death.

The pair were taken into custody on Thursday and are being held in the LaPorte County Jail on a $100,000 cash only bond each.
