Ohio Man Guns Down Sheriff’s Deputy Responding to Domestic Disturbance Call

An Ohio sheriff’s deputy responding to a domestic disturbance call was shot dead Monday by a belligerent man on his front porch.

Daniel Sherrer, 31, had been with the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office since 2021. The man who shot him, 53-ear-old Brian Michael Wilson, has been charged with aggravated murder but is recovering from his own gunshot wounds in the hospital, WLWT reported.

According to an affidavit supporting the charge, Wilson reportedly told a neighbor that “If I was to die tonight, I’d be OK with it.”

Sherrer’s body camera showed Wilson sitting on a porch with a visible firearm, the affidavit said, telling the officer not to approach and “don’t f****** come around that corner. I will f****** kill you.”

According to the camera evidence, Sherrer attempted to deescalate, but Wilson told him, “”I’m not f****** playing. You better just f****** go if you want your family to see you tomorrow.”

An exchange of gunfire ensued, and both Sherrer and Wilson were hit. The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office said that Sherrer died from his wounds after being taken to a hospital. Wilson suffered “serious” injuries, the department said.

“There are no words to express the pain being felt by our office,” the department said.

Investigators recovered a Walther PK .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol and an M&P revolver bodyguard .38 caliber from the scene, WLWT said.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting, assisted by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.
