A man has died and two children were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in the Hawkesbury region north of Sydney on Wednesday evening.
The 40-year-old driver died at the scene and the boys aged 10 and 13 were injured when the car left the road and hit a tree at around 6.45pm.
‘The driver … is yet to be formally identified, but is believed to be a 40-year-old man,’ NSW police said.
A rescue helicopter and two medical crews attended the incident.
The two boys were treated at the scene on Oakville Road, Oakville by NSW Ambulance paramedics and then taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The area will be forensically examined in an ongoing investigation, and anyone with dashcam footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
