A man who raped a 12-year-old girl causing her to fall pregnant, has become eligible for parole only four months after he was convicted of the horrific crime.
Ezekial James, 28, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a young girl in the Northern Territory in 2017.
He was arrested in December 2021 and remanded in custody when DNA evidence from the girl’s baby proved he was the father.
He was sentenced to three years in prison last September, but his sentence was cut short, and he has been eligible for parole since December 14, according to Sky News Australia.

The Northern Territory Supreme Court heard that James, who was 23 at the time of the assault, walked up to the 12-year-old child near a football ground at night.
He lured the girl back to his family’s residence, where he raped her.
The victim returned to her grandfather’s home after the traumatising incident and discovered later on that she was pregnant.
‘Unfortunately, she became pregnant as a result of having unprotected sex with you,’ Justice Barr told James in court.

The girl went to Alice Springs Hospital to have an abortion but her mother, along with two other women, said they’d look after the girl and her newborn.
But despite making that pledge and one of the women even receiving carers allowance, the victim did not receive any care and was left homeless.
The girl stayed with an uncle after couch-surfing for a period of time. He received carers allowance but also provided no care.
She then went to live at a medical clinic.

The girl gave birth at Alice Springs Hospital in August 2018 after being in an ‘extremely anxious’ state.
Justice Barr described the girl’s situation as ‘horrible’ and the birth as ‘very traumatic for a young teenager who did not have the psychological resources to deal with the very stressful situation’.
James was taken into custody by police four years after the 2017 rape when DNA evidence linked him to the child.
James has previously been in jail for two cases of aggravated assault against women and recklessly endangering life.
Justice Barr said it was unlikely he would reoffend before his sentence was suspended.
