North Carolina Man Caused Head-on Crash in Attempt to Kill His Wife

A North Carolina man faces multiple charges after police say he deliberately caused a head-on crash in an attempt to kill his wife.

Anderson Singleton’s wife and two people in the car he hit suffered serious injuries in the crash just before 6 a.m. on Saturday in Raleigh.

The crash was caught on a witness’s dash cam, police said. The witness, Jorge Bravo, told WNCN what Singleton said after the crash.

“He was like, ‘Oh, that’s not an accident. I was trying to kill my wife and myself. We were fighting each other. We’re trying to kill each other.’ We’re definitely on the psych ward,” he said. “And I thought that was a very interesting thing for him to just kind of blurt out nervous and he was just, like, confessing all this.”

Raleigh police said Singleton swerved over the center line into oncoming traffic, slamming head-on into a Toyota Camry with two men inside.

An off-duty paramedic was driving by and stopped to assist before EMS arrived on the scene.

Court documents say Singleton did not appear to be impaired at the time of the crash.  He was arraigned on Monday, and a judge ordered him to stay away from his wife. He was charged with two counts of a assault with a deadly weapon causing serious injuries, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, careless and reckless driving, and driving left of center. The judge added charges of domestic violence assault, stalking, and making threats. He was ordered held without bond.
