No Arrests Made 3 Years After 11-Year-Old Xavior Harrelson Is Found Dead on Farm

No arrests have been made more than three years after a missing 11-year-old Iowa boy was found dead.

Xavior Harrelson was found dead in a farm field outside of Montezuma in September 2021, four months after he vanished from the mobile home park where he lived with his mother. While no charges have been filed in his death, KCCI reported that his mother was arrested in July for violating probation in a drug case.

At the time of his disappearance, reports indicated that Harrelson was a caretaker for his mother who was an amputee and required assistance putting on her prosthetic leg due to an undisclosed health condition. A neighbor allegedly reported Harrelson’s disappearance to authorities, not his mother.

Harrelson’s family believes the boy was killed — but authorities have not said whether foul play is involved in Harrelson’s death. His cause of death remains undisclosed three years later.

“Someone took him from us. I hope someday soon there will be justice for Xavior,” Harrelson’s aunt told KCCI.

In May, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Agent Ryan Kedley told the news outlet they are “confident” this case will be resolved.

“We have a number of persons of interest that we are continuing to evaluate,” he said.

According to jail records, Harrelson’s mother remains in custody without bond.
