A Pennsylvania man will spend several years — and possibly decades — behind bars after he admitted to killing his 4-month-old son by shaking the baby boy on at least eight separate occasions.

In May, Tyler Sullivan, 31, pleaded guilty to one count each of murder in the third degree and endangering the welfare of a child, according to a press release issued by the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.

Pennsylvania is one of only three U.S. jurisdictions where a third-degree murder statute remains on the books.

On Tuesday, the father was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in state prison by Bucks County Common Pleas Judge Gary B. Gilman.
