The woman who fled the country after allegedly gunning down a perceived romantic rival tried to escape again — but this time, her attempt at freedom lasted only around 10 minutes.

Kaitlin Armstrong, 35, is charged with murder in the May 2022 shooting death of Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson, an up-and-coming cyclist who was killed while staying at a friend’s house in Austin, Texas. Wilson, who was in Texas for a bike race, had previously been romantically involved with Armstrong’s long-term boyfriend, Colin Strickland.

Armstrong fled the country days after being questioned by police and was apprehended weeks later in Costa Rica.

Local law enforcement said her most recent escape attempt was less successful.

“Armstrong was transported this morning for a doctor’s appointment,” Drew Knight, a Travis County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, said in an email to Law&Crime. “As she and two corrections officers were exiting the medical building after the appointment, Armstrong ran. The officers pursued her on foot for approximately 10 minutes without ever losing sight of her.”
