A 7-year-old girl whose body was discovered in a vacant Georgia apartment last month was possibly left there by her mother four months before she was discovered.
On June 25, Alivia Hobbs-Jordan’s mummified remains were found in a closet at a DeKalb County apartment unit after a neighbor reported smelling a foul odor. The girl’s mother, Alondra Hobbs, apparently put the body in a stroller and left it in the closet before vacating the apartment with no intention of returning, according to WXIA.
Authorities said the body could have been abandoned as early as February. Hobbs has been charged with murder, even though her daughter’s cause of death has not been disclosed.
Prior reports indicated that graphic video showed a body in the closet with a purse on top of it and surrounded by debris. The video has not been made available due to the public due to its disturbing nature.
Before the body was identified, investigators estimated the deceased girl was between the ages of 2 and 4. An officer wrote that the body had a full head of hair, though her arm and leg were decaying.

Hobbs is charged with felony murder and second-degree cruelty. WXIA reported that a court hearing scheduled for July 3 was delayed.
