Mother’s ‘Worst Nightmare’ as Search Continues for Missing 12-Year-Old Maine Girl

Police in Maine are continuing their search for a 12-year-old girl who hasn’t been seen since last year.

According to Dateline, Stefanie Damron has been missing from her New Sweden, Maine, home since September 23. On that day, her mother, Lisa Damron, left to complete job application paperwork while a grandfather watched four of the six children, including Stefanie, at home.

“It’s the worst nightmare you wish you could wake up from, and it just keeps going,” Lisa Damron told Dateline. “I just want to know where my baby is. I just want my baby home.”

Maine State Police (MSP) said Stefanie was last seen leaving her home and walking into the woods along West Road in New Sweden. She left after an argument with her sister

“Before we left and stuff, she came up to me — was giving me love — and hugged me and told me she loved me and kissed me on the cheek,” Lisa said- “I kissed her back and told her I love her and, ‘I’ll be back.’”

As CrimeOnline previously reported, the Maine Warden Service and state police K-9 Unit have previously searched swaths of land near where Damron disappeared.

The FBI is also helping to search, and currently offering a $15,000 reward  “for information leading to the safe return of Stefanie Damron and/or information leading to the arrest and prosecution of anyone involved in her disappearance.”

Stephanie is described as standing 5 feet tall, weighing 130 pounds, with green eyes and shoulder-length brown hair. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a long-sleeve blue shirt, and black Harley Davidson hiking boots.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Maine State Police at 1-800-924-2261 or (207) 532-5400. Tipsters can anlso also contact the FBI’s tipline at 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.
