Mother arrested for allegedly locking her 10-year-old daughter ‘inside a dog kennel-type cage’ for days at a time

A Kentucky woman was recently arrested for a vast array of child abuse-related offenses that included keeping her 10-year-old daughter locked in a dog cage for days on end, police say.

Sheila Mann, 31, stands accused of one count each of strangulation in the first degree, first-degree criminal abuse involving a child 12 years or under, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree terroristic threatening, and failure to appear, according to Madison County Detention Center records.

Police allege the abuse in Madison County occurred during several months spanning Jan. 1 through early March of this year.
