Moment police use chainsaw to cut through grinning drug dealer's front door is revealed as he is jailed for more than three years

This is the moment police used a chainsaw to break into the house of a prolific drug dealer before bursting in and arresting him. 

Connor Sainsbury, 21, played a ‘leading role’ in the distribution and sale of ketamine and cannabis as part of a criminal network originating in Liverpool.

Footage shows officers from Gwent Police sawing through his front door on July 13 before forcing their way in and putting him in handcuffs. 

He was later pictured grinning in a police mug shot taken after he was put in custody.     

Sainsbury appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on December 7 after he pleaded guilty to dealing cannabis and ketamine. He was jailed for three years and eight months. 

He also admitted to possessing an offensive weapon in a private place.

The drug dealer was surprised in the noisy pre-dawn raid, which was carried out by officers from Gwent Police

Sainsbury was first arrested as part of Operation Bergen, an initiative targeting organised crime groups in the Rhymney area of Caerphilly. 

PC Rhys Jones, the officer in the case, said: ‘Sainsbury played a leading role in the distribution and sale of ketamine and cannabis to dealers lower down the chain.

‘He was part of a nationwide network of drug dealers leading back to Liverpool, benefitting from the sale of drugs and making a substantial amount of money in the process.

‘The defendant was one of several arrests which took place in both Gwent and Manchester and the work of both services had led to this conviction, disrupting the supply of drugs into our service area.

‘As the officer in the case for this investigation, I’d like to thank officers from Greater Manchester Police who assisted in this operation.
