A 45-year-old man in New Jersey has been arrested after his girlfriend’s decomposing body was discovered last month stuffed inside a refrigerator that had been hauled into a state park forest and abandoned.

Christopher Blevins is currently facing one count of desecration of human remains and one count of hindering apprehension in the death of 50-year-old Laura Hughes, records reviewed by Law&Crime show. Hughes was named as the woman New Jersey State Police sought public help in identifying after her remains were discovered in Belleplain State Forest on Dec. 22, 2024, according to a recently released probable cause affidavit obtained by NJ Advance Media.

Authorities said the two had a “history of domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse.”
