Mom Finds Body of Son’s Girlfriend in Home While Riding Out Hurricane

Florida cops have charged a 32-year-old man with murder in the death of his girlfriend last October.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said that Robert Hendrix was already in jail on unrelated charges when they completed their months-long investigation into the death of Kristin Carrier, 43, and charged him with her death.

She was found dead from “multiple gunshot and stab wounds” by Hendrix’s 71-year-old mother, who had come to Jacksonville on October 9 to stay with her son during Hurricane Milton, Law&Crime reported.

After the storm passed, Hendrix went to the store to pick up some items, and his mother stumbled upon Carrier’s body, wrapped in a tarp in a bedroom. She called her daughter to come pick her up, and she and the daugther confronted Hendrix when he returned from the store.

Hendrix became “animated,” the affidavit says, and the mother and her daughter drove away and called police.

Police arrived just before 6 p.m. on October 10 and found blood patterns on floors and walls. Evidence collected at the scene included a knife, baseball bat, and gun, which were submitted to the Florida crime lab for analysis. The results of those tests were redacted from the affidavit.

The affidavit says another witness reported hearing Carrier yelling in the house around 3 p.m. on October 9.

Hendrix was arrested at the time and charged with felon in possession of a gun. He also reportedly had methamphetamine in the home.

Deputies took the four months since the murder to do a thorough investigation before charging him with murder.  He is in jail without bond and due in court on March 12.
