Missouri Man Tells Cops He ‘Accidentally’ Killed His Father, Stabbing Him 50 Times

A Missouri man was charged with killing his father this week after he turned himself in to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, telling deputies he’d “made a mistake” and wanted to surrender.

The crime, however, took place in Manchester in St. Louis County, The Leader reported. Jeffrey Goedde, 41, told the Jefferson County deputies that he’d turned himself in to them because he trusted the sheriff’s office and not Manchester Police.

He was handed over to Manchester Police anyway after investigators responded to the home and found Edward Goedde, 75, with 50 stab wounds to his face and back. Police noted a strong bleach odor when they entered the home as well.

The younger Goedde reportedly told investigators that he struck his father with his hands and may have used a kitchen knife and other weapons, but he couldn’t recall, according to a probable cause statement.

Goedde reportedly told Manchester officer that he knew he had to go with them because he “accidentally killed someone.”

After that, he requested an attorney.

Officers said they found a kitchen knife in a trash can in the kitchen. An autopsy found the elder Goedde had broken bones, had been strangled, and had blunt force trauma to his face, head, and back in addition to the stab wounds, the probable cause statement said.

Court records said the son was charged with with murder and armed criminal action, The Olympian reported.
