Missing Woman’s Body Is Found Near Machete & Shovel — but Cops Say It’s Unrelated

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office in San Antonio identified  the body of a woman discovered in a wooded area in Northwest Bexar County as 28-year-old Mariadelis Labrador Siles.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, police said Siles’ boyfriend said he believed she may have walked to Wildhorse Sports Park after leaving their NW San Antonio home on Monday.

On Wednesday, deputies found the body near Braun Road, which showed signs of trauma, according to Sheriff Javier Salazar. Later that day, police confirmed that the body was of Siles, KSAT reports.

“We don’t have any indicators that the body was dragged here. What we have is that the person died here on scene,” Salazar said.

On Thursday, investigators with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office reported finding a machete and a shovel near the location where Siles’ body was discovered.

The sheriff’s office collected the items but said they currently aren’t sure if the items are connected to the case.

The medical examkner’s office said Siles died from a stab wound to her chest.

Siles’ family, who live in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba, pleaded for help earlier this week, prior to police finding the body.

“To the entire community of San Antonio, please help us with any information so they can find her and bring her home. She’s the sweetest girl in the world for something to have happened to her,” her father on social media on Wednesday. “

“Secondly, I ask all Catholics and Christians to light a candle to help us and [for] God [to] bring her home to our family.”

According to the San Antonio Report, Sules’ boyfriend, who sponsored her move to the U.S., has been cooperative with investigators.

No arrests have been made in the case and he’s unclear whether Siles was killed or died from a self-inflicted wound:

it’s just as likely at this point that someone else is responsible for this,” Salazar added.
