Two children taken from their Missouri home nearly a year ago were found safe last week at a grocery store in Florida.
The High Springs Police Department said it found the two children and their non-custodial mother when a routine vehicle tag check alerted that the owner of the vehicle was a fugitive.
Kristi Nicole Gilley, 36, was arrested on a kidnapping warrant from Clay County, Missouri. With her, officers found 11-year-old Brooke and 12-year-old Adrian Gilley, who were allegedly kidnapped on March 15, 2022.
The kidnapping warrant for the mother was issued on July 13, police said.

Investigators said the three were found inside the Winn-Dixie supermarket in High Springs and that they had disguised their identities. The children have been handed over to the Florida Department of Children and Families Services for a return to their family in Missouri. No other information was released.
