Human remains found Monday in Georgia have been identified as a 16-year-old girl missing since last July.
Susana Morales texted her mother at about 9:40 p.m. on July 26 to say she was on her way home, but she never made it, WAGA reported.
Her phone confirmed she was walking in that direction between 10:07 and 10:21, but stayed in one place after that until the phone died or was turned off.
The remains were found Monday in the forest between Drowning Creek and Barrow County. The Gwinnett County Medical Examiners’ Office confirmed the DNA matched Morales.

Police have not said how she died or whether they have any suspects.
