Missing Autistic RI Woman’s Disappearance Now a Criminal Investigation

The search for a missing Rhode Island woman has turned into a criminal investigation, according to Cranston police.

Linda DaLomba, a 45-year-old nonverbal autistic woman, was last seen Wednesday around 3 p.m., as previously reported by CrimeOnline.

DaLomba resides at a group home in Lincoln. On Friday, law enforcement questioned her caregiver, who initially told police that she last saw DaLomba going into a restroom at a Burlington Coat Factory before she disappeared. However, police reviewed the department store’s surveillance footage and found that neither woman had been at the store, according to NBC Boston.

“The caregiver then provided multiple conflicting statements regarding Ms. DaLomba’s whereabouts, prompting the Cranston Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit to take over the case,” the department said in a press release Friday.

As previously reported, DaLomba is described as 4 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 100 pounds. She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a tan sweater while carrying a purse, according to police.

Police indicated that her last known location was in the vicinity of North Clarendon Street in Cranston.
