‘It keeps getting more and more odd’: Texas A&M Student Inexplicably Vanishes While Waiting on Uber Eats Order

Police believe a nearby manhole may be responsible for Caleb Harris’s remains ending up in a Corpus Christi wastewater plant in March.

According to People, the human remains found at the Perry Place wastewater lift station on Wednesday were positively identified by the Corpus Christi Police Department as belonging to Harris.

As previously reported by CrimeOnline, Harris, 21, vanished on March 4 from his residence at The Cottages in Corpus Christi, in the 1900 block of Ennis Joslin. He sent a Snapchat message around 2:45 a.m. to his sister, his family said. Shortly after, he went outside to wait for an Uber food order, according to his roommates.

His father, Randy Harris, told CrimeOnline that at around 3:03 a.m., Harris sent a Snapchat to his best friend from a bridge next to his apartment complex. His phone either died or was turned off shortly after.

On June 24, city workers performing maintenance at the Perry Place wastewater lift station found remains inside a wastewater collection well and promptly contacted the police.

Around 600 feet from where Harris was last seen, investigators found an uncovered manhole, partially camouflaged by tall grass. Visibility was also poor the night Harris vanished. According to Deputy Chief Billy Breedlove of the CCPD, “It was probably one of the foggiest nights we’d had.”

The CCPD is still uncertain about what exactly happened to Harris. While there is no evidence supporting nefarious actions, they have not ruled out the possibility of foul play. An accident is another possibility investigators are exploring.

Whether accidentally or on purpose, the police believe this manhole was how Harris’s remains ended up in the wastewater plant.

CCPD continues the investigation. Check back for updates.
