Missing 82-year-old Had Dinner with Child Molester Handyman Before Vanishing

A Washington man wanted in connection with the disappearance of 82-year-old Marcia Norman was arrested early Tuesday after a SWAT team was deployed in Missoula.

Jeffrey Kian Zizz, 47, appeared in Missoula County Justice Court on Tuesday afternoon. Police said he violated probation conditions by fleeing from authorities. He was previously convicted for child molestation.

On April 4, deputies with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office received a missing person report from Norman’s family, who had not heard from her since April 1.

Upon investigating Norman’s home, deputies found suspicious circumstances related to her disappearance. They later learned that Norman had dinner with Zizz, her handyman, on the evening of April 1.

Investigators noted that the condition of Norman’s house indicated she left in a hurry, with dishes left half-cleaned and other tasks unfinished, FOX Seattle reports.

Police added that both of her vehicles were found at her “home near McIntosh Lake.”

“We spoke to him a couple of times over the days, just trying to understand the interactions with her, the relationship, how often he’s known her, what he was doing at the house — that kind of stuff. We just got basic information about the handyman stuff and what kind of work he does,” Lieutenant Mike Brooks with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said,

He is currently considered a person of interest in Norman’s missing person case but has not been charged with her disappearance.

He waived his right to extradition, which allows for his transport back to Washington.

Zizz remains behind bars without bond.

Meanwhile, the search for Norman continues.

“We’ve done some searching with drones, some underwater robots so far for [Lake McIntosh]. We’ve had some dogs out searching. We have some other areas we’re checking as well, and we’ve deployed literally every detective we have to this case,” Brooks said.

Anyone with information in the case is urged to contact the sheriff’s office detectives division at detectives@co.thurston.wa.usor call (360) 786-5530.
