Missing Wisconsin Woman Found Deceased, Investigation Underway

A 24-year-old Wisconsin woman reported missing last week has been found deceased, police said.

According to the Madison Police Department, Brooke Stratton’s family reported her missing Tuesday after she was seen walking Monday morning at 7 a.m. close to Oneida Street in Madison.

Channel 3000 reports that an underwater recovery team found Stratton deceased following a tip regarding a missing woman in the area of Monroe Street and Lewis Court.

“A community member called in a tip saying that she thought she saw someone matching our missing person walking in this area,” police said.

“One of our commanders thought she spotted something in the water that looked like a person. We were able to use our drone to get above the water, and it looked like it was indeed a person.”

Although police believe the body to be of Stratton, an official identity will be provided by the medical examiner.

“It’s important to note that if you live in this area on Monroe Street and you have a Ring camera or you have a camera in your business, and you think you may have a vantage point, please let us know. Give us a call so we can come back and take a look at that, because we want to try to piece together what exactly happened here with this unfortunate death,” MPD said.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call MPD at (608) 255-2345.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
