Michigan Woman Attacked, Assaulted After Uber Driver Drops Her at Wrong Location

A Michigan woman says she was the target of a unprovoked assault in Detroit after her Uber driver mistakenly dropped her at the wrong location.

ABC 7 reports that Morgan Catton, 27, was heading from downtown Detroit to visit a friend on the night of September 13 when her Uber driver left her several blocks from her intended destination.

She exited the vehicle and chose to walk the remaining distance to the house near Hazelwood Street and 14th Street.

Before reaching the house, she encountered a man on a bicycle riding along the sidewalk and said she stepped aside to let him pass.

“When he got close to me, he got off his bike, looked at me, grabbed me by the neck and threw me to the ground, where he repeatedly punched me in the face,’ Catton told ABV 7. ‘”t happened so quickly. There was no time to react. I didn’t even get my hands on him at all.”

Following the “random” assault, Catton reported that the suspect quickly fled on the bicycle, according to DailyMail.

Police are now searching for the suspect, described as a man in his 40s, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, riding a dark blue or gray bike.

“There were no words exchanged,” Catton said. “It happened so quickly. There was no time to react.”

“I thought I was going to die,”

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Detroit Police Department’s 10th Precinct at 313-596-1000.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up to help Catton with medical expenses.
