Michelle Hampton: Accused Killer Charged with Murder After Abducting Missouri Woman, Dumping Body in Alley

A Missouri woman’s suspected abductor and murderer has been arrested and is facing multiple charges.

KSDK reported that Anuan Mosby, 43, has been arrested and is facing 20 charges in connection with the death of Michelle Hampton. These charges include first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, two counts of robbery, eight counts of armed criminal action, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. A federal charge of kidnapping resulting in death for Hampton adds to the list.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, a Missouri woman was reported missing due to an abduction Wednesday morning in Clayton and was later found dead in St. Louis.

Family members told KTVI they witnessed someone force Michelle Hampton into a truck and drive away. They followed the truck until a man inside fired shots at them, prompting them to stop their pursuit and call 911.

According to KSDK, Michelle’s sister, Samantha, along with her sons in the vehicle, followed the truck from Clayton to St. Louis, where the man made Hampton stop several times to withdraw cash from ATMs.

“We were told by officers that they drove her around to a couple of different ATMs and made her withdraw money before shooting her five times in the head in the alley,” Hampton’s brother, Mike Potter, said.

At about 11 a.m., Clayton Police reported that St. Louis Police responded to a shooting and found the body of a woman, believed to be the victim of the “incident” that Clayton Police did not label an abduction.

However, Clayton Police did state that they “believe the victim in this incident was specifically targeted and there are no indications of any further threat to the Clayton community.”

The forceful abduction of Hampton, several of the ATM stops, and the shooting on Greer Avenue were all captured on surveillance videos, as noted in a probable cause statement by the police, according to KSDK.

After Mosby was read his Miranda rights, he admitted to firing shots at Samantha’s car, forcing Hampton to withdraw money, and ultimately fatally shooting her.

Mosby is being held without bond at the St. Louis City Justice Center.
