A 62-year-old Memphis woman has been acccused of stabbing her boyfriend in the stomach after he slapped her in the face during an argument.

The unnamed boyfriend was rushed to Regional One Hospital in critical condition from a stab wound that “caused his entrails to fall out of his body,” according to court records.

Diane Cottrell was charged with one count of attempted second degree murder, according to WHBQ.

She reportedly told police that after the boyfriend slapped her, she went to the kitchen and got a knife, then stabbed him in the stomach. They’d been together for six years, she said.

Cottrell is being held without bond in the Shelby County jail with a heard scheduled for Monday, WREG reported.
