A man has been arrested with a machete following a dramatic police chase in Southeast London today.
Metropolitan Police’s targeted crime team spotted the male suspect on Saturday afternoon.
The man initially tried to evade capture by fleeing on a moped, leading police officers on a chase around the backstreets of South East London.
But the chase came to an abrupt end after the man crashed into a car.
He was arrested by police just after 3.40pm in Lordship Lane, Southwark, where it was found he was in possession of a large knife.

Police say the man was taken to hospital to be assessed for a head injury which was said to be ‘non life-threatening.’
A spokesperson for Met Police said: ‘Shortly after 15.40hrs on Saturday, 10 February a man was arrested in Lordship Lane, SE22, following a police pursuit.
‘The man, who crashed a moped he was travelling on, was detained with a large knife.
‘Before being taken into custody, he was taken to hospital to be treated for a head injury. His condition has been assessed as non life-threatening.’
A road closure was put in place on Lordship Lane at the junction with East Dulwich Grove Road.
Met Police are investigating the incident.
