News footage of the Springfield, Ohio apartment where a woman was allegedly killed by Stanley Casimir (WHIO).
An Ohio man allegedly called 911 to admit he killed his girlfriend then led police on a car chase so he could “have some fun” before killing himself.
Stanley Casimir, whose age has not been reported, called 911 on the night of Jan. 1 and allegedly admitted to shooting his girlfriend after an argument, telling the dispatcher, “I just killed my girlfriend, my ex-girlfriend, I just killed her,” according to police reports. The Springfield News-Sun reported that several others called 911 to report a shooting outside an apartment complex in Springfield, Ohio. Police reported to the scene where they found a woman dead from a gunshot wound on the sidewalk.
One of the 911 callers was identified as the victim’s sister, who told dispatchers that Casimir had threatened to shoot the victim after they separated days earlier.
According to the police report, Casimir told dispatchers that he was sitting in the parking lot of a Kroger grocery store with a gun in his lap. He allegedly claimed on the call that his girlfriend, with whom he shared 5-month-old twin babies, kicked him out of the house the night before. On the night of Jan. 1, he allegedly said that he shot her several times, telling dispatchers, “I just killed my girlfriend, my ex-girlfriend, I just killed her.”
Casimir also allegedly told dispatchers that he planned to kill himself, but “[w]e just going to have some fun before I kill myself. That’s it.” When the dispatcher asked him what he meant by that, he responded, “I don’t know. I have no idea. Alright, bye.” That was his last statement to 911 before hanging up. Police arrived at the Kroger before Casimir drove off and attempted to stop him, but he allegedly fled the scene.
Sgt. James Byron with the Springfield Police Department told WHIO, a local CBS affiliate, that a “brief pursuit” headed south on U.S. 68 took place before the vehicle driven by Casimir crashed. Police said that he shot himself in the head before crashing.
Casimir was taken to a hospital and then transferred to a trauma center to be treated for his injuries, where he remained as of Jan. 2.
