The attack occurred on Monday outside a Circle K at 4692 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway. An employee at the convenience store said the suspect came in and started yelling at her, so she called her brother for help, according to an arrest affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime.

The brother reportedly showed up and confronted Ramos-Arce, and then so did the employee’s boyfriend, who tried to step between the brother and the suspect. When he did so, Ramos-Arce allegedly punched him in the face.

Ramos-Arce ran to his truck to grab a machete to “intimidate” the Circle K employee’s brother and boyfriend because they were “significantly bigger” than him, the affidavit added, causing the two men to take off running. Ramos-Arce is said to have followed them, and once he caught up, slashed the brother’s arm.

The slashing was accidental, Ramos-Arce told authorities, according to the affidavit, and he was so remorseful that he told the victim to get into his truck so they could go to the hospital because he “felt bad.”
