Man decapitated mother, threw head into the hallway and then laid naked on top of her later singing ‘Jesus Loves Me’: Cops

A New Jersey man allegedly decapitated his mother and was later found laying naked on top of her headless body, police say. He allegedly later sang “Jesus Loves Me” as they took him into custody.

According to the probable cause arrest affidavit obtained by WABC and The Press of Atlantic City, the gruesome scene happened Friday at a public housing complex in Ocean City after 46-year-old Jeffrey Surgent allegedly called 911 to say he was bipolar and had just killed his mother.

When cops arrived, they found him naked and covered in blood, laying on top of his mother’s headless body, authorities reportedly said.

As cops handcuffed him, he allegedly screamed that he killed his mother and that he was sorry. He then started singing “Jesus Loves Me,” the affidavit reportedly said.

Prosecutors said officers took him to a mental health facility. He’s charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. Surgent reportedly has a history of mental illness.
