A Missouri woman was allegedly kidnapped and murdered by the boyfriend of her twin sister after he found out about a $40,000 settlement she was safeguarding for their brother, according to federal prosecutors.
Samantha Hampton told local NBC affiliate KSDK last week that she had no idea who took her sister Michelle Hampton’s life when interviewed about the Nov. 20 slaying. But she didn’t think it was mere coincidence.
“No, I don’t,” Samantha told the station. “I don’t think it was random.”
It would later come out that Michelle Hampton — a Clayton, Missouri, resident who had $40,000 in her bank from an undisclosed court settlement that she was holding on behalf of their brother — was allegedly kidnapped before Samantha Hampton’s very eyes, with cops saying she tipped them off and told them she suspected it was her own boyfriend, Anjuan Mosby, who was behind the abduction.

The 43-year-old found out about the settlement before Michelle Hampton’s disappearance and allegedly went missing that same day, according to Samantha Hampton.
Prosecutors say the surviving twin “expressed fear to return home after her interview with the police because she was afraid that Mosby was involved in Michelle’s kidnapping,” according to court documents. She allegedly saw two men in masks kidnap her sister from her home in Clayton.
What Samantha Hampton didn’t know at the time, according to prosecutors, was that Mosby not only kidnapped Michelle Hampton but also murdered her after attempting to withdraw money from her bank account. The two of them were allegedly caught on surveillance tape driving around with another suspect, Emmanuel Suarez, 36, who is accused of taking part in the kidnapping and visiting PNC Banks with them to make withdrawals.
A teller at one PNC Bank declined a $10,000 transaction and only gave them $2,000, according to prosecutors. Surveillance footage from another PNC allegedly shows the trio striking out again after an employee asked them to come inside to finish the transaction.
Just before 11 a.m. that day, Michelle Hampton was caught on video being let out of the yellow Ram truck they were all riding in together and out into an alley, where she was shot to death.
Mosby later told police that he let Hampton out after attempting to get money out of several ATMs between Clayton and St. Louis. He said he tried to give her a chance to run before gunning her down, according to court documents.

Cops were able to track Suarez down through surveillance footage, with him and his Ram truck allegedly being caught on video before and after the kidnapping. DNA tests also connected him to Mosby after investigators found clothing they had ditched, according to court documents.
Authorities have charged Mosby and Suarez with first-degree murder, robbery and kidnapping. Mosby is also facing a federal charge of kidnapping resulting in death. He has pleaded not guilty.
