Man Accused of Beating, Stabbing Woman and Hiding Her From Cops in Plastic Tote

A Ohio woman was found beaten, stabbed, and “stuffed and folded into a small, black tote” last week and is now hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Cleveland police have not released the 60-year-old woman’s name but said Dalontay Edmond-Geiger, 31, was arrested at the scene and charged with multiple felonies, including attempted murder, WOIO reported.

A police report says that a woman called 911 from a nearby corner store at about 3:30 p.m. on May 2, telling dispatchers that a woman was tied up in the basement.

Officers went to home, and Edmond-Geiger told them he was a confidential informant and asked them to leave. He went back inside but eventually returned and let them search the basement, where they found only an air mattress, Cleveland.com said.

They left the scene, but later asked a woman known to frequent the area what she knew about the house. She told the officers Edmond-Geiger had told her he killed a woman he believed “snitched” to police and had shown her photographs of the assault.

Police returned to the house just after midnight to speak again with Geiger. According to the police report, Edmond-Geiger agreed to let them in through the back door. Two officers went to the back, and a third officer waited in front of the house. He reported hearing “what sounded like a heavy object being dragged across the enclosed front-porch floor.”

Edmond-Geiger let the officers in and they began searching, with one reporting that heard heard a moaning sound. Each time he heard the moaning, Edmond-Geiger turned up the volume on the radio on his phone.

The officers tracked the moaning to the front porch, and Edmond-Geiger eventually admitted there was someone stuffed into the plastic tote on the porch.

Court documents said the woman was on a ventilator with multiple fractures to the back of her head.

Edmond-Geiger is being held on a $500,000 bond and is due back in court on May 18, WOIO said.
