Las Vegas Woman Accused of Killing Roommate, Storing Body in Freezer

Las Vegas police have arrested a woman and charged her with killing her roommate and leaving her body in a freezer.

Police said they were called by a person from the mobile home community management office on November 6 who said she was concerned because she hadn’t been able to reach one of the residents — Monique Gilbertson, 68 — in several days, KLAS reported.

Officers knocked on the door and waited 45 minutes before entering the home and encountering the roommate, Jazlynn Roush, and another, unnnamed person in the home. In the course of searching the house, police found Gilbertson’s body in a freezer. Both people were taken into custody for questioning.

Roush was later determined to have been responsible for the death and has been charged with second degree murder, Law&Crime reported.

Roush reportedly said she found Gilbertson dead the week before Halloween and that the woman had taken drugs. She said she didn’t call 911.

“Until I could figure it out, I had her in the icebox,” the arrest report said.

But according to the complaint against her, Roush gave Gilbertson cocaine laced with fentanyl, “willfully, unlawfully, feloniously, and with malice” killing her.

The court documents also said that Gilbertson had accused Roush of stealing from her and had kicked her out, even changing the locks. Roush continued living in the mobile home after Gilbertson’s death.

Police identified Roush as “Daniel Roush” even though her name was legally changed years ago. Her next court date is November 26.
