An Alabama man is behind bars after he allegedly hit a woman twice with his vehicle before returning to the scene some time later to pick up the victim’s dead body.

Logan Michael Rogers, 28, stands accused of murder in the death of 38-year-old Autumn Paige Strickland, who was reported missing early Sunday and allegedly found dead at Rogers’ home when cops executed a search warrant on Tuesday.

The investigation began Sunday evening when Strickland was reported missing. She was initially believed to have been last seen leaving the Stricklin Hotel on Court Street in Florence shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday. At the time, police believed she was “endangered” and “may be living with a condition that may impair her judgment.”

Detectives received multiple tips from the community. Further investigation, including obtaining video evidence, led them to Rogers.

Cops arrested Rogers early Tuesday and later allegedly found Strickland’s body inside his home. Investigators have not yet said how Rogers and Strickland knew each other.

In a criminal complaint obtained by Law&Crime and local media outlets, cops now believe Rogers killed Strickland on Saturday with his Kia Soul. He struck her with the car and then turned around and hit her again, investigators allege. Strickland allegedly drove away but returned some 30 minutes later and collected her body and took the remains to his home in the 2200 block of North Wood Avenue in Florence, where cops later found her.
