Kentucky Parents Charged in Shooting Death of Tot Boy

A Kentucky toddler’s parents have been arrested after the boy was shot and killed this week in Covington.

The 2-year-old, Khalil Adams, was rushed to Cincinnati Children’s hospital on Monday, but he succombed to his injuries, WXIX reported.

Covington Police said the boy’s mother, Selena Farrell, fled the scene before they arrived and never appeared at the hospital. They said they believed she was hiding because of a probation violation warrant.

After the shooting, Kenton County Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Sanders said a warrant had been issued for her arrest but that she wasn’t suspected of shooting the boy.

Sanders said Tashaun Adams, the boy’s father, was helping Farrell hide in a hotel.

Farrell, 23, was arrested Thursday in Kenton County, WLWT reported. Sanders did not say where Adams, 21, was arrested, but he was being held in Boone County.

Both suspects have been charged with second-degree manslaughter, Sanders said. Adams has also been charged with hindering prosecution, while Farrell faces the probation violation and charges of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and abandonment of a minor.

Police have not released details of the shooting.
