Two new lawyers have been assigned to represent Kegan Kline, an Indiana man who says he learned of charges he had not been made aware of.
For the first time since learning of the new charges, Kline spoke out in an interview with “Murder Sheet” podcasters Aine Cain and Kevin Greenlee. Kline dismissed defense attorney Andrew Achey last week after a scheduled sentencing hearing was stalled by Kline’s assertion that he had not been presented with specific evidence.
Kline, who’s currently behind bars, is now contemplating the withdrawal of his guilty pleas, which encompass 25 charges, including child pornography and child solicitation.
“There was a solicitation charge. I know it wasn’t me. I’ve never talked to that girl. When I’m out in public, I don’t look at teenage girls or kids,” Kline told the Murder Sheet, according to CBS4.
“Some of the pictures, you know, obviously, I don’t know if they were exploitation or child porn. I didn’t have a girlfriend. I was a lonely guy and I started talking to girls online and it just kind of spiraled into something. It’s just crazy.”
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Kline has been connected to the case of Libby German, 14, and Abby Williams, 13, since his arrest in 2020. The girls were found murdered on Valentine’s Day 2017 in Delphi after they took a hiking trip at the abandoned Monon High Bridge.
Kline allegedly confessed to investigators in 2020 that he used a fake profile and fake photos to lure in underage girls via social media apps. He also admitted speaking with Libby on Instagram and Snapchat before her death.
Kline is not currently facing charges in connection with the girls’ deaths. In 2022, the Delphi Double Homicide Task Force took Delphi resident Richard Allen into custody. He’s been charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of Abby and Libby.
