‘Influencer’ Andrew Tate, Brother Indicted on Trafficking Charges in Romania

Andrew Tate, an “influencer” who was banned from Twitter because of racist, homophobic, and misogynist comments and allowed back on by new CEO Elon Musk, was indicted in Romania on charges of rape, human trafficking, and forming an organized crime group to sexually exploit women.

Tate’s brother, Tristan, and two other people were also indicted, the BBC reports.

The Tate brothers were arrested at their home in Bucharest in December, as CrimeOnline previously reported, but were released to house arrest in March.

The indictment accuses the four defendants of sexually trafficking women in the United States and the United Kingdom as well as Romania.

All four of the defendants have denied the allegations against them.

Te Indictment names seven women who say the Tate brothers recruited them with false promises, including love and marriage, but instead took them to buildings in Ilfoy county, where they intimidated them, watched over them constantly, forcing them into debt and pornography. The porn was later shared on social media.

Prosecutors have seized millions in assets from the defendants, including properties, luxury cars, and cryptocurrency.

“While this news is undoubtedly predictable, we embrace the opportunity it presents to demonstrate their innocence and vindicate their reputation,” the brothers’ media team said.

Other charges are still under investigation, the BBC said, including money laundering and trafficking of minors.
