A Michigan man is facing a murder charge for allegedly slaughtering his mother with a broken broomstick — with the suspect’s own brother finding their mom last weekend with a piece of it “impaled in one of her eyes” — leading to a near-fatal fight between the two siblings, cops say.
“These allegations are extremely serious and deeply concerning,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido in a press release Monday. “This terrible act of violence cannot be tolerated,” Lucio said. “And we will fully pursue justice to the full extent of the law.”
Armando Streeter, a 46-year-old man from St. Clair Shores, was arraigned Tuesday on second-degree murder charges and assault with intent to murder, with both carrying the possibility of a life sentence, according to the prosecutor’s office.
The Macomb Daily newspaper reports that Streeter suffers from alleged mental health issues and was previously arrested for a domestic assault on his mother, Loretta Streeter, 76, in November 2024, with the charges coming down for that incident in December. The case was dismissed, however, for unknown reasons.
On Tuesday, prosecutors asked for Streeter to be held without bond, saying he is “an extreme risk to society” and to his brother, William Streeter, who was also attacked by Armando on Saturday, April 5, at the home they share on 11 Mile Road near Harper Avenue, according to the Macomb Daily.

Detective Sgt. Brad Benac, with the St. Clair Shores Police Department, recalled in court how it was William Streeter who notified authorities about what happened after he found their mom “with the end of a broomstick impaled in one of her eyes.” Loretta was already dead at that point, with security video and audio indicating that there was “a struggle” and “some banging” earlier in the day in the bedroom area where she was found.
“You can hear a female voice trying to talk with the suspect … asking for help,” Benac said, according to the Macomb Daily. He told the court that Armando Streeter attacked his brother William with a “lock that was affixed to the end of a rubber band” while he was speaking to a 911 dispatcher about finding their mom.
Police say Armando tried strangling William in an attempt to kill him, leading to the additional charge being handed down in court Tuesday, along with murder.
“Streeter was arraigned in 40th St. Clair Shores District Court where District Court Judge Craigen Oster set no bond and remanded him to custody,” the prosecutor’s office said. “The Probable Cause Conference for Mr. Streeter is scheduled for April 15, 2025.”
