More than 30 years ago, child actor Thomas John Guiry shared a screen with the legendary James Earl Jones in the 1993 classic kids baseball film, “The Sandlot.” Now he’s being charged with smashing up a neighbor’s Jeep and standing outside that person’s front door with a knife.
Guiry, 42, was booked into the Horry County jail in South Carolina on June 2 and released the next day, but his legal woes were only recently reported. TMZ obtained surveillance footage of a bare-chested man heaving a dumbbell at the windshield of a white and black Jeep. Doorbell footage showed this individual ringing the bell, and brandishing the knife.
Supposedly, that’s Guiry.
Myrtle Beach outlet WMBF and CBS affiliate WBTW obtained police documents in which cops were called to Winslow Avenue regarding a disturbance. They said they encountered Guiry on a road. While speaking to him, his neighbor yelled, “Really, my window’s been shattered.”
The defendant allegedly voiced contrition, at least as cops were there.
“That sucks, man, I’ll pay you back,” Guiry allegedly answered. “I’m sorry, I’m gonna get you back.”
He admitted to the windshield smashing, cops said.
“I did it. I’m sorry man. I’m coming back to get you,” he allegedly said. “Sorry, brother. I’ll pay you back.”
According to cops, the neighbor’s said that Guiry smashed the vehicle windshield, then approached his door while holding a knife and ringing the doorbell.
Police did not suggest a motive for all this.
