New Hampshire Dad Kills Wife, Child Before Cops Shoot Him on I-95 Bridge to Maine

New Hampshire officials provided an update on the murders a man committed Thursday before he was killed by law enforcement on an interstate highway bridge between that state and Maine.

Officials identified the murder victims as Brittany Weston, 37, and her 8-year-old son, Benson, WMUR reported. Trent Weston, 37, was identified as the man who killed them before law enforcement shot him dead on the Piscataqua River Bridge between New Hampshire and Maine.

As CrimeOnline reported, the suspect called 911 in York, Maine, early Thursday morning and said he’d had a fight with his wife in Troy, New Hampshire — 100 miles away — and she was dead. Maine officials tracked his phone to the middle of the bridge over the Piscataqua River, where law enforcement from both states tried to convince him to surrender.

He refused, stepped out of his car, and raised his weapon. A Maine state troopers and two New Hampshire state troopers opened fire, killing him. The three troopers are on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated by the Maine Attorney General’s Office.

Then the troopers discovered the body of the 8-year-old boy in his car. Maine State Police Commander Colonel Bill Ross said that the boy was not killed by law enforcement.

An autopsy determined that Brittany Weston died from multiple gunshots to the head, WMUR said. Her body was found in the family’s home in Troy. The boy also died from multiple gunshot wounds.

“We’re trying to learn what happened inside the residence, what happened afterwards, and what lead up to the events on the bridge,” New Hampshire Assistant Attorney General Nicholas Chong Yen said.
