Accused Idaho killer Bryan Kohberger wants additional time to decide whether he wants to call an alibi to his defense during his upcoming murder trial.
Kohberger’s public defender, Anne Taylor, filed a motion Friday, arguing that the defense hasn’t been allotted enough time to examine the extensive evidence presented by the prosecution, ABC News reports.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Kohberger is facing charges for the murders of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin. All four students were found stabbed dead in their off-campus rental near the University of Idaho in November 2022.
Police arrested Kohberger in December 2022 at his family’s home in Pennsylvania. He was extradited back to Idaho to face charges.
Since his arrest, the prosecution has reportedly provided 51 terabytes of data in the discovery process.
Court records indicate that the evidence encompasses “thousands of pages of discovery, thousands of photographs, hundreds of hours of recordings, and numerous gigabytes of electronic phone records and social media data.”

In the motion, Taylor asserted that making a decision regarding an alibi at this stage would be premature since the evidence examination is still ongoing and incomplete. She added that the defense will “continue to both navigate discovery disclosed by the state and investigate the charges against Mr. Kohberger,” according to Fox News.
Kohberger’s trial date has been scheduled for October 2.
