One of the four University of Idaho students stabbed to death three weeks ago had injuries substantially more severe than other victims, News Nation reports.

The injuries to Kaylee Goncalves were reportedly “significantly more brutal” than the injuries to victims Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin, according to the news outlet.

News Nation did not cite sources for the revelation, which it first reported on Sunday evening, and it was not clear whether there was official confirmation from police.

But the development comes after Goncalves’ father, Steven Goncalves, told Fox News on Saturday that authorities classified the manner of death for his daughter differently from Mogen.

Investigators believe that the four students were stabbed to death between 3 and 4 a.m. on November 13 at the off-campus residence in Moscow, Idaho. Two other roommates who were on the ground floor at the time of the murders were not attacked and police do not believe they were involved in the killings.

Earlier on Sunday, Steven Goncalves said he believed his daughter or Mogen were targeted because they were killed on the third floor of the home and investigators told him they believe the perpetrator entered the residence from a second-floor sliding door.

“To me, he doesn’t have to go upstairs,” Steven Goncalves told Fox News, referring to the killer. “I’m using logic that he chose to go up there when he didn’t have to.”

The three-story house is built into a hill and has sliding doors on the second and third floors in addition to an external door on the ground floor that leads to the driveway.

Law enforcement has not yet made any arrests in connection with the slayings. To report information about the case, call 208-883-7180 or email tipline@ci.moscow.id.us.
