A 65-year-old long-haul truck driver from Florida will die behind bars for sexually assaulting and killing a pregnant 29-year-old mother in Michigan nearly three decades ago.

Kent County Circuit Court Judge Scott A. Noto on Thursday ordered Garry Artman to serve life in a state correctional facility without the possibility of parole for the horrific 1996 slaying of Sharron Hammack.

A jury last month found Artman guilty on one count of open murder, one count of felony murder, and one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct for killing Hammack, who was raped, stabbed, hog-tied, and strangled.

Hammack’s sisters, Tina DeYoung and Terri Navitskas unleashed harsh invectives aimed at Artman, according to courtroom footage provided by Grand Rapids, Michigan, NBC affiliate WOOD.

“You’re not even a person!” Navitskas screamed at the convicted killer. “You’re not a man. You’re not a person. You’re nothing but a piece of garbage.”

DeYoung called Artman a monster.

“I hope you get everything that’s coming to you,” she said. “You killed my sister and my nephew that was inside her body.”

DeYoung called Artman a “coward” for refusing to answer questions about what he did and why, adding, “I hope you rot in hell.”
