A Houston Police captain has been arrested on child sex charges and relieved of duty pending an internatl investigation.
Daryn Blake Edwards was initially arrested at his Galveston County home on charges of possession of child pornography, but on Thursday, League City Police said they’d added two more charges — aggravated sexual assault and sexual performance of a child, KTRK reported.

He is being held without bond at the Galveston County Jail.
According to KPRC, court documents reveal that the victim told investigators that Edwards had been raping her for years since she was in elementary school and that the assaults had escalated over the past year, when Edwards raped her between 85 and 100 times.
She said that Edwards sent her sexually explicit photographs over social media and requested photos from her. He sometimes sent her money to send photos, which she said she did because she didn’t want him to get upset.
The court papers say she knew Edwards was saving the images from the Snapchat app, which would notify her when he did. He reportedly told her he had a secret photo album and threatened to “ruin her life” with the photos in it. He also allegedly used hidden cameras to capture images of the victim.
Houston Police said Edwards is a 32-year veteran who works in the department’s auto theft unit.
Edwards was one of several officers who were demoted after the Astroworld festival tragedy in 2021, when 10 people were crushed to death at a badly managed concert, KTRK said. Dozens of people were injured, but a grand jury declined to indict anyone, as CrimeOnline reported.
