A man’s body has been found inside a car submerged under a river in the NSW Hunter Region.
About 6am on Wednesday, emergency services were called to the Merriwa River, along the Golden Highway, following reports a car was submerged in the water.
A crime scene was established by police, with officers working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following a search by police divers, a man’s body was located in the vehicle.
He is yet to be formally identified – however believed to be aged in his 30s.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
